Nel ASA and Rheinmetall sign MoU on decentralised synthetic fuel production for defence and critical infrastructure

Nel ASA (Norwegian electrolyser manufacturer) and Rheinmetall AG have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore joint opportunities in decentralised renewable fuel production for defence and critical infrastructure. The collaboration pairs Nel's electrolyser technology for renewable hydrogen with Rheinmetall's Giga PtX concept and systems-integration expertise to assess scalable, modular solutions for localised production of low-carbon synthetic fuels. Norway is the first target market, with Rheinmetall seeking a local champion partner in each market. The synthetic fuels would be drop-in substitutes for conventional fuels without changes to end-use applications; producing them near demand centres aims to reduce reliance on centralised production and long, vulnerable supply chains, strengthening energy security and preparedness.

Plug and Arcadia eFuels sign 280 MW ENDOR supply agreement and broader e-SAF partnership

Plug signed a 280 MW GenEco electrolyzer supply agreement for Arcadia eFuels' ENDOR project at Denmark's Port of Vordingborg. A separate cooperation framework covers four additional projects with more than 1 GW of potential electrolyzer capacity. ENDOR is still advancing toward final investment decision, and equipment delivery starts only after notice to proceed; this announcement does not establish operating fuel capacity.

Why it matters:A verified recent primary-source milestone; announced plans and company claims remain distinct from completed production.
