Cuba denies any role in seized biodiesel shipments, energy minister tells Reuters

Cuban Energy and Mines Minister Vicente de la O Levy told Reuters in an exclusive interview in Havana (Oct 12) that there was "no contract of any kind with ENETEC S.A." and that no Cuban state-owned company had managed to secure any fuel contracts, rejecting US claims of government involvement in Cuba-bound biodiesel shipments seized in September. The US said last week it had seized 90 separate shipments of biodiesel worth nearly $3 million under contracts involving ENETEC, a sanctioned Cuban state energy trader, as part of a crackdown on fuel deliveries to the island. De la O Levy said US fuel exports are permitted only to Cuba's private sector, not the government, and imports cover less than 3% of the country's fuel needs. Cuba and the United Nations have called the US oil blockade illegal and contrary to international law.

US senators propose extending the small biodiesel producer credit to 2029

Clean Fuels Alliance America reports that senators introduced a bill to extend the small agricultural biodiesel producer credit through 2029. The current credit provides $0.20 per gallon on the first 15 million gallons for eligible producers with annual output of up to 60 million gallons. The extension remains a proposal; the association says the existing credit expires on December 31, 2026 unless Congress acts.

Why it matters:A proposed change in support for smaller US biodiesel producers. Enactment has not been established by this source.

SkyNRG selects engineering and technology partners for Project Wigeon

Hydrocarbon Engineering reports that SkyNRG selected Technip Energies, Sasol and Topsoe for initial FEED activities on Project Wigeon in Washington State. Planned SAF capacity is 143,000 tonnes annually, using renewable natural gas and Fischer–Tropsch technology, with start-up targeted for 2031. The appointments advance engineering towards a future investment decision; they do not establish construction completion or operating production.

Aether validates integrated 2.5 barrels/day Aurora SAF demonstration

Aether says its integrated demonstration combined 2.5 barrels/day Aurora conversion and upgrading equipment with RTI’s Fischer-Tropsch reactor. Mass-balanced landfill renewable natural gas and industrial CO2 were used as feedstocks, and independent AmSpec testing found the samples met ASTM D 7566 FT-SPK specifications. The results inform the planned 50 barrels/day Project Beacon in Singapore; this is a demonstration milestone, not proof that Beacon has entered commercial production.

Why it matters:Documents an integrated SAF technology demonstration ahead of the proposed Singapore scale-up.

SABA members commit to SAF certificates supporting Infinium Project Atlas

SABA members including AVEVA, Bain, Google and McKinsey committed to multi-year SAF certificate purchases associated with Infinium’s planned Project Atlas. The Texas facility is expected to produce approximately 100,000 tonnes of SAF annually, with American Airlines as physical fuel offtaker. The book-and-claim commitments support financing and progression toward final investment decision; certificate buyers do not necessarily receive the fuel themselves, and the announcement is not evidence that Atlas is operating.

Why it matters:Shows how corporate book-and-claim demand supports a planned SAF project before final investment decision.

Infinium introduces methane-derived mSAF alongside its CO2-based eSAF platform

Infinium introduced an mSAF pathway combining its Fischer-Tropsch synthesis technology with electrically heated methane reforming. Eligible feedstocks include renewable natural gas, biogas, flare gas and other qualified methane streams. The company states that lifecycle carbon intensity must be calculated and independently certified for each project, depending on source, leakage, energy and chain of custody. The mSAF label does not establish one universal emissions reduction or that every listed methane source is renewable.

UK fuel association criticises the refusal to levy duties on US HVO

Biofuels International reports RTFA’s criticism of the UK decision not to impose countervailing duties on US HVO. The TRA’s original 10 September determination confirms that imports were subsidised and caused injury, but that no anti-subsidy duties will apply. RTFA argues this threatens domestic biodiesel investment; that investment outlook is the association’s assessment, rather than a demonstrated plant closure.

FedEx expands contracted SAF procurement across five US airports

Biofuels International reports FedEx agreements expected to secure more than 20 million gallons of neat SAF across five US airports through 2027. Deliveries are projected at 30%–50% blending ratios, depending on location. The volumes describe contracted future neat-fuel procurement, not fuel already delivered, and should not be confused with the larger final blended-fuel volume.

Soybean associations welcome CHS processing project that would add soybean oil supply

American and Wisconsin soybean associations welcomed CHS’s proposed approximately USD 700 million processing facility near Evansville, Wisconsin. The plant targets capacity of 80 million bushels annually, producing approximately 1 billion pounds of soybean oil and 2 million tons of soybean meal, with completion targeted for fall 2028. The release identifies food, feed and renewable fuel markets for the oil; it does not allocate all oil to fuel or establish sustainability certification.

Phillips 66 describes renewable feedstock and fuel logistics across its West Coast network

Phillips 66’s West Coast network feature describes sourcing vegetable oils, used cooking oil and greases through marine terminals, storage and transport connections to the Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex. It states that Rodeo processes about 800 million gallons of renewable feedstocks per year to make renewable diesel and SAF. That figure is feedstock processing volume, not a reported annual SAF output. The article is an operating-network overview rather than a new plant-opening announcement.

The company estimates $137 million of remaining project capital and a final $34 million DOE loan draw, with other funding from retained earnings; the target is planned capacity, not current SAF output.

LanzaJet reports ethanol-based jet fuel production at Freedom Pines Fuels

LanzaJet announced in November 2025 that its Freedom Pines Fuels facility in Soperton, Georgia had fully operated and produced fuels, including ASTM on-spec jet fuel from ethanol. This is the company's reported production milestone. The release does not establish current output, utilization or ongoing production at the date of this review.

Why it matters:An archived reported production milestone with a distinct project identity and a clear limit on current operating claims.
